Mission Rabies is committed to eliminating rabies through mass dog vaccination, catch-vaccinate-release programs, and community education. These efforts prevent transmission, protect communities, and ensure humane management of street dogs.
We also focus on enhanced rabies surveillance to monitor outbreaks and respond quickly. Through these initiatives, we aim to create a safer, rabies-free world for both humans and animals.
Mass Dog Vaccination:
We use a combination of vaccination methods to reach as many dogs as possible for vaccination.
School Campaigns:
Classes for children include presentations, quizzes, and theatre, teaching life-saving knowledge about rabies.
Community Sessions:
Sessions with community groups and workers' unions emphasize reporting dog bites and encouraging vaccination.
Enhanced Rabies Surveillance:
The community plays a vital role in reporting rabies cases via the Helpline (8390453136).
Catch-Vaccinate-Release:
These door-to-door teams are followed by larger catch-vaccinate-release teams using nets to catch and vaccinate unmanageable dogs. Vaccinated dogs are marked with non-toxic paint and released unharmed.
Door-to-Door Vaccination:
Teams of two vaccinators travel through regions, focusing on dogs that can be held for vaccination. Owners receive vaccination certificates and free collars.
Treatments:
Our teams treat roaming dogs with injuries in coordination with local animal welfare activists, helping over 350 dogs yearly.
Community Education About Rabies:
A community education programme educates people about rabies risks and safety measures before vaccination teams arrive.
